Mahopac families of English as New Learners (ENL) students visited Mahopac High School on Oct. 7 to attend the district’s ENL Family Night. ENL Family Night showcased exhibitors and Mahopac staff who connected more than 70 students and family members with useful programs and resources available in the school and around the community.
“This annual event helps bridge the school, family and community connections to build a welcoming environment for our families,” K-5 ENL department chair Jessica Rivkin said. “It’s a valuable way for ENL families to learn about everything the school and surrounding communities have to offer.”
The night began with district translator Jackie Vasquez welcoming families to the high school’s mini theater and the ENL team playing a bilingual video narrated by students Arianna Guzman and Juan Huanga that discussed the ENL-student experience at Mahopac. Families also engaged with with representatives from local organizations and district-specific programs.
