Lakeview Kindergartners at Outhouse Orchards

Kindergartners stepped out on an autumn adventure to Outhouse Orchards, where they took part in several exciting fall activities while learning along the way. Students picked apples off the trees, enhancing their understanding of where their food comes from and the importance of agriculture. Selecting a special pumpkin inspired discussions about colors, shapes, sizes and textures, and those conversations supported the students’ math skills and vocabulary development. The kindergartners also navigated Outhouse Orchards’ corn maze, which promoted critical thinking and problem-solving as the children worked to find their way through the maze, reinforcing spatial awareness and cooperation.

Lakeview kindergarten teacher Shannon Dolan shared why the outdoor field trip was so meaningful for the students.

“All of these hands-on activities not only connect children with nature, but also provide rich opportunities for experiential learning, which is an essential component of the kindergarten curriculum,” Dolan said.
