Lakeview Native American Dioramas

At Lakeview Elementary, Stephanie Gaur’s fourth and fifth graders took part in an exciting and educational multidisciplinary project that explored Native American tribes from across the United States. The students researched various tribes and their regions, took notes and used their findings to create detailed dioramas of Native American homes and their surroundings.

In addition to the dioramas, the students worked on a Google slide deck where they highlighted important facts about their chosen region and tribe prior to presenting their slides to the class and sharing the fascinating knowledge they had gathered. The final projects, including the dioramas and slide presentations, were proudly displayed in the main hallway of Lakeview for everyone to admire.

“The creativity and effort my students put into these projects is truly inspiring,” Gaur said. “I am so proud of the way they blended their research, writing and artistic skills to bring the history of Native American tribes to life.”

This project ties into the fourth grade social studies unit on Native American history and the nonfiction research writing unit, offering students a well-rounded learning experience that merges history, research and creative expression.
