Today the Mahopac CSD celebrated its Library Media Specialists and Library Aides. They offer essential support to our students in finding the resources they need to further their education and have made excellent use of the District's many new library spaces to benefit students.

The Mahopac CSD is pleased to provide free Universal Pre Kindergarten (UPK ) to 148 families through a random lottery. Deadline to apply for the lottery is April 12, 2024.

Tonight, the Mahopac CSD Board of Education will hold a regular board meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Mahopac High School Auditorium. Superintendent Christine Tona will host Community Connections at 6:30 p.m. outside the MHS auditorium, before the board meeting.
The Mahopac Central School District is happy to announce that Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) will be offered for the 2024-2025 school year. UPK will provide free full-day pre-kindergarten to 148 children selected through a lottery. Eligible children are those who will be eligible for kindergarten in the 2025-2026 school year. We are able to provide this free UPK program through State Aid that can only be used for this purpose which results in no cost to taxpayers. While additional information will be provided next week, here is the timeline for next steps in the creation of the UPK program:
- March 19, 2024: MCSD Board Meeting to approve UPK providers.
- March 20, 2024: Information will be shared with a link to apply for the Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) Lottery Entry Form. This link will also be on the District website.
- April 5, 2024: Deadline for completing the Lottery Entry Form.
- April 8, 2024: At 9 a.m. a drawing will be conducted at Mahopac Falls School in the auditorium and will be live-streamed on the District website. Parents are welcome to attend the drawing on this date. All applicants will be notified of whether their child is selected through the lottery or placed on a waitlist.

This week is School Social Workers Week and the Mahopac Central School District is deeply grateful for the invaluable contributions of its School Social Workers. They are critical figures in the lives of our students and serve the community every day. Today is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day and the Mahopac CSD recognizes its School Resource Officers and School Special Patrol Officers along with our security staff from Briger Security. They are superb role models and keep students and staff safe every day.
February's Regular Board of Education Meeting and Public Hearing on Tax Exemptions has been rescheduled from February 13th, 2024 to February 15th, 2024.

Mahopac High School's Interact Club, in collaboration with with the Lake Mahopac Rotary Club, concluded their winter coat drive after months of work. The Mahopac community came together to contribute over 500 winter coats to those who need them. Thank you to everyone who donated!
Congratulations to Lakeview student Alicja Caffery for being recognized by Storyworks Magazine as one of only five nationwide winners of the Frozen Earth Essay Contest. Caffery was surprised with a special assembly where she was honored by her peers, Lakeview staff, and parents.
This week, Mahopac recognizes the unique contribution of school counselors to students' education and development. Mahopac's Counseling Department is a constant, reliable, and positive presence in our students' lives throughout their years at Mahopac Schools.

Due to the forecast for ice this afternoon, there will be an early dismissal today, January 23rd. There will be no after-school activities. Dismissal will be at the following times:
High School- 10:50 a.m. The High School will send a separate communication regarding the revised Regents exam schedule.
Middle School- 11:00 a.m.
Lakeview- 11:00 a.m.
Austin Rd.- 11:45 a.m.
Fulmar Rd.- 11:45 a.m.
Tomorrow’s elementary half-day will now be a full day.
Mahopac Middle School's future scientists, engineers, and artists have been hard at work on their projects for the 2024 MMS STEAM Fair. Students presented their projects today to the next generation of STEAM Fair presenters, the 5th grade students from Mahopac elementary schools.
